Tomoko Kakita is the author of Furoshiki: The Japanese Art of Gift Wrapping.
She is a designer based in London, UK. Having lived in the UK for over two decades, immersion in a different culture has only deepened her appreciation for Japan’s unique traditions.
Through her first book, Tomoko invites you on a personal journey of rediscovery - exploring the traditional Japanese art of Furoshiki 風呂敷, where every wrap is imbued with grace, thoughtfulness, and intention. Her workshops also introduce the concept of ma 間 (pronounced má) — the space between things — and how it can enrich our homes and daily lives.
