Tsutsumi is a Furoshiki wrapping cloth which is handcrafted in Japan by skilled craftsman using a traditional hand-printed method called 'Yuzenzome'. Each colour needs one dyeing block. The artisanal colours are achieved by mixing the dyes by hand.
Blossoms is infused with the colours of spring blooms, lending this nature-inspired item a feeling of flourish.
For ease of wrapping and reusing, lightweight yet durable cotton was chosen to create Tsutsumi.

Story
Tsutsumi 包 in Japanese means ‘wrap’.
The shape of the ancient kanji for Tsutsumi replicates the form of a pregnant woman. The pregnant form enfolds what is most precious, a baby, and the idea of wrapping something precious extends to the act of enfolding an object in a square piece of beautiful fabric.
It was my sister’s dream and nature that inspired me to create Tsutsumi. This design was born as a metaphor of biophilia that would inspire people to act responsibly towards the environment – and to encourage them to reconnect with nature.
